We do not allow cell phone photography, or any other photography, of our collections. Patrons may request photocopies or scans of archival materials. HIPAA regulations require us to protect health information and this policy is part of our compliance with HIPAA.
There is ample parking on our campus. If the small lot for visitors across from the McAuley Building is full, continue on to the larger parking garage. The entrance is past the Davis Building.
We are open by appointment from 10 am to 4:30 pm on weekdays, except for Wednesdays when we open at noon. We are closed on New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Thanksgiving and the Friday after, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve.
We have a café on the Mt. Washington campus. It is open from 8 am to 10 am and from 11:30 am to 2 pm. There is a large seating area available all day and you are free to bring lunch as well. Mt. Washington village has several restaurants and is a short walk from campus.
You are welcome to bring a laptop into the reference room to take notes. Pencil and paper are allowed as well. Please do not use pens while at the archives.
The standard turn-around time for photocopies and scans is 2-3 weeks depending on the number of copies requested and the volume of other requests.
Entry to the Chesney Archives is by badge access only, and we have a closet in our entry area that locks. We also have hangers for coats and outerwear.
No food, drink, cameras, ink pens or bags are allowed into the Reference Room. Notepads and laptops are allowed. Pencils will be provided. All cell phones must be set on vibrate. If you need to take or make a phone call, we ask that you step out into the hallway outside our front door.
