Biography

William W. Belford received his A.B. in 1918 from Southwestern University and his M.D. in 1922 from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He served as the 30th president of the American Academy of Pediatrics and was on the pediatric staff of several hospitals around the United States. In 1960, he was a delegate to the White House Conference on Children and Youth.

Scope and Content

The William W. Belford Collection covers his years as a medical student at Johns Hopkins. It contains Belford’s notes from classes in hygiene, pathology, surgery, gynecology, medicine, and neurology, as well as notes from medical clinics with William S. Thayer and others. Belford’s personal expense book (1919-1920) is also included.
