Biography

Judith Bush Carlson was born in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey. She received a diploma in nursing from the Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing in 1962 and a BSN from the University of Hawaii. Carlson’s (nee Bush) first job was on the Johns Hopkins Hospital’s Marburg service. She left after 4 months to take a public health nursing position at the Municipal Tuberculosis Sanitarium in Chicago, Illinois. She married in 1966 and eventually managed her husband’s anesthesia practice before retiring.

The Judith Bush Carlson Collection consists of student notes, class material and ephemera from her nursing student years.
