Janet Courtney Stulz was born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1914. She received her A.B. degree in Zoology from George Washington University in 1935. After graduating from the Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing in 1938, she was employed at the Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia. She retired from active nursing duty after she married Benjamin David Pile in 1941. However, she continued to volunteer, serving as a teacher for the American Red Cross Nurses Aide Course.
The Janet Stulz Pile Collection consists of her “student record of practical experience”, graduation program and regulations pertaining to nurses’ home.
