She married Joseph Mountain in 1949 and returned to New York in 1950. She continued research in microbiology at Columbia University and earned an M.S. in biostatistics there in 1961. Before her retirement in 1980, she worked for the Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research as a consultant in biostatistics.
