Biography

Isabel La Roche was born in Beltsville, Maryland. Before coming to Johns Hopkins, she attended Strayer’s Business College in Baltimore. She also worked in Washington, D.C. as a stenographer and at a sanitorium where she became interested in nursing. She was a member of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Training School for Nurses graduating class of 1908. She worked as a private duty nurse from 1908 to 1918. She then served on the Instructive Visiting Nurses Association in Baltimore for 29 years until her retirement in 1947. She was a life member of the Johns Hopkins Nurses Alumni Association.
