Biography

Clara Viola Hahn was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She received her nursing diploma from Johns Hopkins Hospital Training School for Nurses in 1918. She also received her Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Arts degree from Columbia Teachers College. She was an active public health nurse and served as a disaster relief nurse with the Red Cross. She was the director of the Visiting Nurse Association of Williamsport, Pennsylvania from 1928 to 1938. In 1938 she became an associate professor of public health nursing at the Medical College of Virginia.
