Current Guidelines for Onsite Research at Chesney Archives

The Chesney Archives welcomes all researchers! Protecting the health and safety of our staff and researchers is paramount in our plans.

For your protection and that of others

The Chesney Archives follows COVID health and safety guidelines issued by Johns Hopkins Medicine and The Johns Hopkins University. When arriving at the archives please be aware of the following:

• Masks – The Chesney Archives has masks available for researchers and staff in the reading room.
• Sanitizer – Hand sanitizer is available for all visitors, staff, and researchers, posted at the entrance of the archives.
• Social distancing – Researchers are spaced 6 feet apart in the reading room to maintain safe social distancing.

Protecting you while on campus and at the Chesney Archives

Sanitizing common areas throughout the campus – Housekeeping staff clean and sanitize entries, dining areas, restrooms, stairways, and elevators daily.

Reading Room of the Chesney Archives – Researchers are spaced 6 feet apart to maintain safe social distancing. A maximum of six researchers is permitted in the reading room at a time.

Amenities

Cafeteria – The McAuley Hall cafeteria is currently not offering food service. Dining areas with physically-distanced tables are available in the cafeteria terraces and immediately outside the building for those who bring their own lunch. Restaurants, coffee shops, and a grocery store are a short walk away.
