Harry Allen Teitelbaum Collection

Biography

Harry Allen Teitelbaum was born in Brooklyn, New York. He received his B.S. in 1929, his M.D. in 1935, and his Ph.D. in 1936, all from the University of Maryland. Teitelbaum was an intern in psychiatry and a resident in neurology at Bellevue Hospital in New York during 1938 and 1939. He joined the faculty of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1940. He left in 1942 to serve in the Army Medical Corps in the Pacific during World War II. He rejoined the faculty in 1952. From 1946 to 1970, he was associated with the Pavlovian Laboratory at Johns Hopkins where he worked with W. Horsley Gantt. He served as a psychiatrist on staff at the Johns Hopkins Hospital as well as several other Baltimore hospitals

Scope and Content

The Harry Allen Teitelbaum Collection covers the latter part of his career. It contains correspondence, research data, reprints, clippings, lectures, and manuscripts. The majority of the collection consists of records from the Pavlovian Laboratory at Johns Hopkins and the Pavlovian Society.
