Biography

Rachel Fuller Preston was born in Danielson, Connecticut in 1894. She received her B.A. from Wellesly College in 1916. While attending the Johns Hopkins Hospital Training School for Nurses she did volunteer nursing with Dr. Wildred Grenfell’s mission in Labrador. After graduation in 1920 she accepted the position of supervisor of obstetrics at Memorial Hospital in Owosso, Michigan. She married physician Dr. Reynolds C. Mahaney in August, 1922. She was a school nurse in Owosso for 27 years. She moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1974 to be near one of her three sons.

Scope and Content

The Rachel Preston Mahaney Collection consists of her nursing diploma, photos, admittance card, and letter of donation.
