Elizabeth Griffin came to Baltimore from Bradford, Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of the Clarion State Normal School and was a school teacher for two years prior to her admission into the Johns Hopkins Training School for Nurses. She received her nursing diploma in 1903. In 1903 and 1904, she helped care for the hundreds of individuals struck by the Typhoid epidemic in Butler, Pennsylvania and at the East End Hospital in Pittsburgh.
The Elizabeth Griffin Collection consists of scrapbook pages containing photographs and captions of scenes from the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Included in the photographs are shots of the exterior of the hospital, an interior shot of a ward and photos of various physicians and nurses.
