Biography

Geraldine Bodie received her nursing diploma in 1950. A native of Lone Star, South Carolina, she studied at Lenoir Rhyme College before coming to Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing. Following graduation she worked in the hospital, and was a head nurse in 1951. In 1952 she moved to Duke University Hospital as head nurse and Medical Nursing Supervisor. She received her Master of Science in Nursing Administration degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1962. She was appointed Director of Methods Improvement in Nursing at Duke. She also worked in the Methodist Retirement Homes before retiring.
