Biography

Elsa Ayres Brenner was born in Pittsburgh in 1936. She attended Yokohama High School in Japan from 1950 to 1952, Port Clinton High School in Ohio in 1953, and Linden Hall Academy in Pennsylvania from 1953 to 1954. She received her nursing diploma from Johns Hopkins in 1957. She worked for the Visiting Nurse Association in York, PA beginning in 1957 and trained in Nursing Administration at the University of Pennsylvania. She married Morgan Brenner in 1958.

Scope and Content

The Elsa Ayres Brenner Collection consists of the 1954 student handbook “The Dome,” a 1954 JHHSON Circular of Information, student song lyrics circa 1954-1957, and a nursing procedure manual circa 1955-1957. Also included are a graduation program, glee club programs, diagnosis charts, admissions information, the class capping ceremony photograph, a white surgical cap, and a letter from Anna Wolf.
