Dean M. Larson

Larson was born in Norway, Michigan. He earned degrees at Willamette University in Oregon and Towson State University (now Towson University) in Maryland, and an artist’s diploma from the Schuler School of Fine Arts in Baltimore. After working in Baltimore for seventeen years, Larson established a studio in San Francisco, while also teaching at the Academy of Art University. In addition to portraiture and other figurative painting, Larson’s broad scope of work includes still lifes, interiors, and landscapes.

Larson has twice won the John and Anna Lee Stacey National Award for oil painting, and has been featured in American Artists magazine. He has painted Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska, and Michael Grebanier, principal cellist for the San Francisco Symphony.
