Vitali Miagkov
1936-
Miagkov was born in Ukraine and attended the Odessa Art College followed by the Kiev Art Institute. In addition to his work as a painter, he is also a designer and an architect. In his home country, he headed the interior design projects for the Kiev Opera Theater, the Kiev Cultural Center, and the Shevchenko Museum. Miagkov moved from Moscow to Frederick, Maryland with his family in 2000. At the time, his son was on the faculty of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
In addition to portraits, Miagkov has painted still lifes, seascapes, and moonlit scenes. In the U.S., his work has been shown at the National Air and Space Museum; the Space Center in Pasadena, California; Fort Detrick in Frederick, Maryland; and American University. He has also shown his work at Merritt Gallery and Renaissance Fine Arts, in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
