Gregory Heisler
1954-
Heisler, a professional photographer, is known for his evocative portrait work. He has produced covers for Time magazine’s Man of the Year, Person of the Year, and People of the Year issues.
His subjects include presidents George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton; Bruce Springsteen; Sir Patrick Stewart; and John Glenn. Among the awards Heisler has received are the 1986 ASMP Corporate Photographer of the Year, the 1988 Leica Medal of Excellence, the 1991 World Image Award, and the 2000 Alfred Eisenstaedt Award.
In 2009, Heisler became Artist-in-Residence at the Hallmark Institute of Photography in Turners Falls, Massachusetts. He taught and acted as liaison between students and the world of professional photography. He expanded the curriculum and provided the students with necessary skills and techniques the school did not previously offer.
In 2014, Heisler was appointed distinguished professor of photography in the Multimedia Photography & Design program at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
