The Johns Hopkins University School of Health Services 1971- 1979

In 1971 The Johns Hopkins University established the School of Health Services to help fill the need for primary care practitioners, especially in underserved areas. It incorporated a program in nursing after the closing of The Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing in1973. Although the school received a grant of $3 million from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in 1973, it was not able to attract additional outside funding to sustain the program. Facing major operating deficits, the school closed in June 1979.

The archives of the School of Health Services have not yet been processed.
