NHPRC Feasibility Study for Electronic Records Management

This study is being undertaken to assess the scope of electronic records being generated at JHMI and to determine how they may be retained, accessed, and used on a long-term basis. It is funded through a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission. The purpose of the project is to stimulate an institutional initiative for preserving key institutional data and information in digital formats. A major goal is to launch development of a digital repository.

Electronic Records Management Model Under Consideration

We are assessing a model of centralized governance for electronic records management at JHMI combined with a decentralized structure for administration. The centralized governance/de-centralized model mirrors the model for governance and administration of JHMI. Therefore, it may be the most effective approach for electronic records management at this institution.
